Car Insurance Claims Process Can No Longer be a Nightmare

Car Insurance Claims Process Can No Longer be a Nightmare

Author: Adam Boulton

Every car policy holder tries to avoid accidents as far as possible and the insurance company tries its best to reject the claim, as much as possible. But, in the event of a person meeting with the accident and incurring damages, the claim has to be made necessarily since that is the very purpose of taking car insurance.

So, a cautious person first ascertains what are the covers in the insurance policy and thus avoids inclusions that are not covered and avoids rejection of the claim. Any doubts regarding the claims can be clarified with the insurance agent and it is better to periodically review the coverage before actually entering into the process of claims.

It is better to conduct a thorough study of the insurance companies and find out how fast they handle the claims and potentially liability issues, in case of personal injury. Some of the insurance companies simply pay the limit on the policy which is the maximum amount the company pays for the damage caused by an accident. Naturally, if the limit is higher, the premium amount also would increase.

In the event of car insurance claims, the role of the other driver plays a crucial role and hence it is imperative to have the full name, address, phone number and so on of the other driver. While dealing with car insurance claims, it would be established who would be held accountable for the cost of repairing the damages suffered by the vehicle.

Car insurance claims can be a nightmare if some of the following steps are not followed. Immediately after the accident, the insurance company has to be called and the claimant of the vehicle has to get the medical check up done and recorded. The information acquired from the other party's driver, will be quite helpful while filing a police report.

The most important part of car insurance is to document the accident completely and get the photographs of the accident and the vehicles involved. The information provided by the witness would be very vital while making a claim. If the documentation is flawless and complete, it would make the claims process easier and faster.

If all these procedures fail, the claimant may go in for a court settlement and it is better to keep the documents and record of the transaction, if any, that had taken place and they would serve as good evidence. If necessary, the vehicle would have to undergo inspection by the officials of the insurance company. If there are no hiccups, a car insurance claim would normally be settled within a week or five business days. If such small details are remembered and taken care of, the car insurance claim can be a cake-walk.
